Expensive Holiday? Just Buy Your Own Island.

July 28, 2011 10:01am

Wouldn't that be great? Well, apparently you don't need to be a lottery winner or Rowan Dartington wealth manager to be able to afford it!

According to a Yahoo travel piece on the most expensive holidays, you can rent an entire island for yourself. You can rent out Necker Island, one of the British Virgin Islands owned by Richard Branson, starting at £322,000 (£197,552) for seven nights!

Imagine that. The whole entire island without other tourists, other people's snotty kids and the bright red sunburnt Brits that always turn up. Instead you'll have staff to cater to your needs, an indoor garden, floating dining pavilion and a private dining room.

I don't think I'd use much of that though, I'd just lie on the beach and adventure around the island pretending I was on Lost.

When I'm rich I might buy my own island and do just that, apparently prices start at just £95,000!

Twi-hards getting desperate for Breaking Dawn

July 25, 2011 2:29pm

It's been a fair wait since third film in the Twilight Saga, 'Eclipse' came out in cinemas, and it's a further wait to go with part one of the final installment 'Breaking Dawn' hitting the big screen in November this year.

But at this year's Comic-Con, the Twilight cast were invited for a Q&A session about the film, and showed a couple of sneak peak trailers of the film. One was filmed by a fan and uploaded YouTube, but anger has spread among the twi-hard community that producers Summit Entertainment have not yet publicly released the trailers for all fans.

Online forums and communities are full of young fans that are desperate to see the trailers, and probably would've loved to go if their daddies were rich Rowan Dartington investment banker types who could've flown them over to San Diego for it.

But for now they'll just have to keep waiting!

The World Has Gone Potter Potty!

July 18, 2011 5:56pm

Maybe it's because I never read the books, or because I didn't watch further than the second film, but the whole Harry Potter fascination and phenomenon has gone right over my head.

The final film, 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2' broke a number of box office records this weekend, including the first film to surpass the £100 million mark in North America.

Warner Brothers revealed that the film raked in over £57 million on its first day in cinemas, which beat the previous number one spot set by 'The Twilight Saga: New Moon'. It also set a new record by bringing in £27 million from midnight screenings, where fans had queued for hours worldwide to be some of the first to see the the eighth and final film.

Maybe I should catch up and watch all the films from the beginning, because I just don't understand the frenzy...

Spa Weekend Away

July 5, 2011 5:12pm

I am off to a spa weekend in Nottingham with my boyfriend this weekend! I am so excited as we have all our meals inlcuded, two treatments and some champagne and chocolates in our room! Very romantic!

I am having a back massage which last 40 minutes and a exfoliation with sea salts which is going to make my skin look healthier and shiny!

The spa also has a big pool and hydrotheraphy pool and an ice room! We are very excited!

I have already been putting some bits together including a couple of nice dresses to wear in the evenings as it is very formal for dinner and some jeans and a top for the days in between treatments as they have large grounds to stroll around.

I will let you know how it goes and how much nicer my skin feels!

Grimscote Manor Hotel

October 4, 2010 6:00pm

If you are looking for a decent hotel in the Warickshire area, I can not reccoment the Grimscote Manor Hotel any more.
Stylishly and clinically tidy decorations, you won’t find any stains on the mattresses here. Well equipped rooms that although not overly large are certainly value for money (£39 for a single). Breakfast and dinner is cooked to perfection, with the former being included with most rooms for the night. Staff are efficient and friendly and its easy to get to being on the A446 Southbound.
If you’re travelling on business then this is worthwhile stopping off, you wont be disappointed.
